Turning left onto Beach Rd will take you along the picturesque beachfront to a warm welcome at Te Puka Tavern. Further on to Waima at the east end of the bay your will find The Ruins Accommodation near the old wharf and the remains of a freezing works which closed down in 1952, relics of the era when transport on the coast was by sea. The New Zealand Shipping Co. had a depot here and the harbour operated until 1963.
Back on SH35 head over the bridge you will find Blue Marlin Motel, The Fish Shop, Tokomaru Bay Holiday Park & Tokomaru Bay Four Square.
